Article 249. Environmental requirements for the introduction, reintroduction and hybridization of plant and animal species of the Ecological Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. The introduction, reintroduction and hybridization of animal species, with the exception of fish resources and other aquatic animals, on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan are allowed for scientific research and economic purposes with the permission of the authorized state body in the field of protection, reproduction and use of wildlife on the basis of biological justification.
The introduction, reintroduction and hybridization of fish resources and other aquatic animals on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan are allowed for scientific research and economic purposes with the permission of the authorized body in the field of fisheries on the basis of biological justification.
Introduction refers to the deliberate or accidental transfer of plant species outside their natural habitat and animals outside their habitat.
The introduction of plants is carried out in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of protection, restoration and use of flora.
2. The introduction of hybrid animals into the natural environment is prohibited.
3. Unauthorized introduction, reintroduction and hybridization of animal species are prohibited to individuals and legal entities.
4. Individuals and legal entities that keep or breed wild animals in captivity and/or semi-captivity, as well as domestic animals that may interbreed with wild animals or harm them, are required to take measures to prevent such animals from entering the natural environment.
